The Daystar KJ09144BK Jeep Wrangler JK rear spare tire bumper is looked at. This is part of our HOW IT LOOKS NOW series in which we go back and look at products we have installed in the past and show how they look now.
We are looking at the Daystar KJ09144BK part which installs on the rear tail gate of the Jeep Wrangler JK all models. It replaces the stock spare tire bumper with longer ones. When you get a larger spare tire the stock bumpers will not work.
You will need longer ones. These come in handy as a good replacement. They are somewhat easy to install and are made of a high density foam. Basically they install in the OE holes that the old bumpers come out of. You have to pay special attention when you install them that you do not rip the new part, and believe me it is easy to do.
Well as you can see this holds up fairly well, but it is not adjustable so if you cut down for a certain tire/rim combination and then change it, you may have to get a new set. That happened to us.
All in all it is a product you must get, and one we recommend. We give it a 4 lug nut rating.
Things we liked:
- Easy to install. Just basically screw them in.
- Easy to adjust. Just cut to fit.
- Made of high grade material that lasts a long time.
- Not very expensive.
Things we did not like:
- Can tear if you are not careful.
- May have to change if you change tire/rims.
CONCLUSION
